A 12-year-old minor was reportedly raped by her own father in Bumthang. The incident took place in January when the mother was in her village in Sarpang. The case was reported to the police on February 27 after she learned that her daughter had been raped.

According to police, the girl was sent to the Wangdichholing General Hospital for examination. However, there was no concrete evidence of the minor being raped since the incident took place a month ago.

Police said they are not sure of the act as he is a chronic alcoholic. Meanwhile, the father is under police custody. The family lives in Chumey Gewog.

The father is from Dadgari in Indian State of Assam while the mother is from Jigmechholing Gewog under Sarpang Dzongkhag.
