With a new automated biochemistry analyzer machine, Tsirang District Hospital hopes to provide faster and precise blood test services to patients now. The hospital received the machine recently.

Automatic biochemistry analyzer is a medical laboratory machine designed to carry out a blood test, which is useful in the diagnosis of diseases.

Earlier in absence of this sophisticated machine, the hospital has been using this semi-auto photometer. And according to health officials, the old machine was time-consuming and is able to collect only a few samples of blood in a day. Whereas the new machine accommodates 50 samples of blood at a time and it takes around 30 minutes to give back the results.

“But this new machine will be able to collect more than one hundred results within an hour. The reports will be also accurate and precise. Since we can collect many samples within a short period of time, we can carry out a blood sample test for more people. This will help to provide further treatments on time,” said Tshewang Dorji, the Laboratory Officer, at the Tsirang District Hospital.

The machine is equipped to test blood samples for 28 diseases and expected to improve the diagnosis services and treatment services for patients.

“If laboratory reports are precise, it will help in making better medical decisions. This would serve in providing the right medicine and precise treatments for patients by general doctors. Therefore, the machine would be beneficial for both patients and doctors here,” he added.

The Ministry of Health distributed the machine to nine other hospitals across the country. The Ministry bought the machines on Reagent Rental System, meaning the Ministry has to buy reagent from the machine’s company and the cost of machines is free. The reagent is a chemical, which helps to test the patients’ blood sample.

Today, on an average Tsirang District Hospital sees 90 to 100 people coming for blood test daily.
