Family of deceased of Bangkok case awaits government’s directive (1)Family of the deceased, who was found dead in Thailand’s capital, Bangkok still awaits government’s directive to retrieve the dead body. Sources say the body is still under the custody of Thai police.

The body of the 45-year-old Bhutanese, allegedly involved in drug-trafficking, was fished out from a canal in Bangkok, last Sunday. The deceased is believed to have ingested drugs wrapped in dozens of condom and died after one burst.

Thai media says arrest warrants for five other Bhutanese, including two women, have been issued.

The reports say arrest warrants for two more involved, one of Indian and another of Nepali nationalities have also been issued.

Thai police have said they would coordinate with the embassies of Bhutan, India, and Nepal to seek extradition of the suspects to stand trial in Thailand.

Local media have reported saying the deceased travelled to Thailand with six other alleged members of the gang on March 28.

Officials at the foreign ministry say there is no new development in the case as of now. Royal Bhutan Police declined to comment.
