Bhutan’s economy grew by 5.4 percent last year showing an improvement from the previous year when GDP was recorded at its lowest at 2 percent in 2013. The growth in GDP was contributed mostly by the services sector related to tourism and hotels.
According to a press release from the national statistics bureau, total GDP size increased from Nu 105B to Nu 119B in 2014.
The share of agriculture to the economy has decreased in the past 15 years by more than ten percent while both the manufacturing and services sector recorded increase in their contribution to the economy.
Electricity and water supply, which has a 14 percent share of GDP, registered negative growth of about 3 percent last year.
