Two Bhutanese girls, both four years old, lost their lives in a fire incident in the Indian border town of Jaigaon near Phuentshogling.
The girls succumbed to injuries on the way to the National Referral Hospital in Thimphu. The incident happened at around 9 am yesterday.
Another boy and a girl, also four years old, suffered severe burns during the incident. They are currently being treated at the National Referral Hospital.
Sources said the children were kept locked inside when their parents left for work. A neighbour broke into the room and rescued the children who were severely burnt. The cause of the fire is suspected to be an electric short circuit.
