Given the incessant rainfall, Dungsam River, which flows on the left side of Samdrup Jongkhar town, broke its banks and flooded the town, yesterday. It washed away a suspension bridge and a truck. No causalities were reported.
It has started drizzling from the night before the incident. But, by 4 AM, the rainfall had started to get heavy.
No damage from the town has been reported.
However, our Bureau Correspondent says the students may not be able to attend classes as the suspension bridge is the only way to Samdrup Jongkhar Primary School during monsoon season.
