Druk Lhayul FC defeated Thimphu City FC ending the latter’s undefeated streak of 14 games. Stunning the giants, the Thimphu District league winner, Druk Lhayul FC, scored both their goals in the first half.
The second half started with Thimphu City FC’s desperate search for a comeback. They managed to score one. However, for the remaining part of the game, Druk Lhayul FC’s defence proved too strong for the defending champions to breakthrough. The game ended 2 – 0.
With the result, Thimphu City FC are held at 38 points. It leaves Paro FC with a chance to lead the league table who are also at 38 points but with a game in hand.
