DPT-MonggarDruk Phuensum Tshogpa’s President, Jigmi Y.Thinley, said he would like to offer his land in Gyalpoizhing to the Gyalpoizhing town. He was talking to the people of Kengkhar-Weringla Constituency in Gyalpoizhing, Monggar on Saturday.

“After the controversy over the Gyalpoizhing land allotment, I decided I will not keep the land I own in Gyalpoizhing. I didn’t buy the land to build my assets.”

Jigmi Y.Thinley said he even surrendered the land to the government. “But ACC said the government cannot accept the land…Irrespective of what the court says, I don’t want to keep the land. The land doesn’t benefit me in any way. Even if the court decides that I can keep the land, I don’t want it. I want to give it to the people of Gyalpozhing.”

Jigmi Y. Thinley also spoke about plans to develop Gyalpozhing into one of the biggest towns in the east. He told the gathering about the plan to turn Bongdima, also in Gyalpoizhing, into an industrial estate.

Later in the evening, DPT President met with the people of Monggar town.
