DPT's President meets people of Sarpang

DPT- SarpangDruk Phuensum Tshogpa’s (DPT) President, Jigmi Y.Thinley, met with the people of the two constituencies in Sarpang Dzongkhag yesterday. This is his first visit to the dzongkhag after the election campaign for the National Assembly kicked off.

Talking to a hall packed with people, he said there have been a lot of accusations against DPT. Being the first democratically elected government and having served the country for the last five years, he said the people are the best judge for the party’s performance.

Apart from sharing the party’s achievement in the past five years, the president also spoke of the party’s pledges. He said, by 2020 the party will completely eradicate poverty and make the country self reliant.

Jigmi Y. Thinley added that, villages will be developed and farmers empowered and provided support to increase their income. Low cost houses will be constructed for retired civil servants in every dzongkhag, employment will be created for 1, 40,000 youth in the coming five years and pay for civil servants and national workforce will be revised.
