Dorji Lopen confers Dhar to new appointees of Central Monastic Body

The Dorji Lopen of the Central Monastic Body has conferred Dhar to the newly appointed Lams, Principal, Sungkhorp and Managing Officer of various religious centres. They were conferred Dhar in Punakha Dzong today.

47-year-old Ngawang Sonam Drakpa from Thimphu is the new Principal of Pelden Tashi Chholing Shedra of Phuntshogling in Chhukha.

He was enrolled in the monastic school at the age of thirteen and graduated from Tango Buddhist University and Tashijong Shedra in India.

Prior to the present post, he underwent a three-year retreat at Chizhi Goenpa Sonam Gatshel Drupdey in Thimphu.

Nim Dorji from Haa is the new Thromde Lam of Phuentshogling in Chhukha.

The 50-year-old became a monk at the age of eleven. He completed his three-year retreat and later served as a Drupoen at Taktshang Yoeselgang in Paro.

Prior to his present post, he served as a Sungkhorp for the Royal Bhutan Army at Damthang in Haa.

And the new Managing Officer of Gyenzhug Kidpailing in Punakha is 45-year-old Tandin Tshering.

He is from Punakha and was enrolled in the monastic school at the age of twelve. He underwent retreat for six years after receiving teachings from various religious masters.

Prior to his present post, he served as one of the secretaries in Punakha Dzong.

42-year-old Lam Kado from Punakha has been appointed as the Tshogchhen Lam in Punakha.

He became a monk at the age of seven and graduated from Tango Buddhist University in Thimphu. He had also completed six years retreat from Pangkarpo Drupdey in Punakha.

Prior to his present post, he was a teacher at Phochhu Dumra Lobdra in Punakha.

Dechen from Punakha is the new Sungkhorp for Royal Bhutan Army at Dewathang in Samdrup Jongkhar. The 40-year-old was enrolled in the monk body at the age of seven. He graduated from Tango Buddhist University and underwent his three-year retreat at Pangkarpo Drupdey in Punakha.

Before this appointment, he served as a Lam at Drakarpo Goenpa in Punakha.
