Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT) has decided to declare its initial 47 candidates, who represented the party in the primary round, to contest the general elections too.

The party president Lotay Tshering said the question of changing the candidates never arose as they have the best team.

He said the party consulted with the coordinators, the candidates and examined the voting pattern.

“All our the candidates did well both in terms of postal as well as EVM votes. If you dissect the voting pattern, we won in 25 constituencies over DPT’s 22.  So there is a tussle, but the ones we won, we are comfortable and the ones that DPT won there’s a battle there. I think we have a good team to fight.”

The candidate nomination period began yesterday and will end on September 21.

By September 22, the scrutiny of the nominations of the candidates will start and the candidates will start submitting the application for campaign fund.
