The Dhamngoi Zomdu for two constituencies under Thimphu Thromde was held today. The lone candidates from each constituency were elected for the upcoming Thrompon elections. Meanwhile, there were no aspiring candidates from Rabdeyling constituency under Gelegphu Thromde and Pekarzhing constituency under Phuentshogling Thromde.
The lone aspiring candidate from Jungshina-Kawangjangsa under Thimphu Thromde, Ugyen Dorji was elected from his constituency today. He secured more than 190 votes out of almost 270 votes cast. There are almost 1,400 registered voters.
Sonam Dorji, the lone candidate from Dechencholing-Taba constituency was also elected from his constituency. 140 people voted ‘Yes’ while 24 voted ‘No’ out of a total of 164 votes cast. Dechencholing-Taba constituency has a total of over 700 registered voters.
This takes the total number of selected candidates for the upcoming Thrompon elections for Thimphu to three.
So far, along with two constituencies, the Dhamngoi Zomdu for Norzin, Babesa, and Chang Bangdu-Olakha constituencies under Thimphu Thromde has been completed. The selection of candidates for Changangkha and Motithang constituencies are yet to be held.
In Gelegphu, selections for Jampelling, Trashiling and Rabdeyling constituencies are now completed. Namkhaling, Sonam Gatshel and Samdrupling constituencies are yet to be held. There are two candidates for now who will contest for the Gelegphu Thrompon’s Post.
And in Phuentshogling, with Pekarzhing, Nyedrag and Pasakha constituencies complete, Dhamngoi Zomdu for Phuentshogling Maed, Phuentshogling Toed and Rinchhending are yet to be carried out. A single candidate has so far been selected to contest for the Thrompon’s post in Phuentshogling.
