The number of dengue fever cases in Trashi Yangtse Dzongkhag Hospital has reached 342 as of yesterday evening. The first dengue fever case was reported in Doksum area on July 26.
Health officials say while some patients have recovered some are still under observation. A 5-year-old child was airlifted to the National Referral Hospital in Thimphu due to the fever yesterday.
Similarly, in Trashigang Dzongkhag Hospital detected 16 dengue fever cases as of today. Most patients were either resident of Doksum or had travelled there or to Samdrup Jongkhar.
Health officials are monitoring the situation in both districts.
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease and the symptoms are mild and high fever, severe headache, pain in the eyes, joint pains and rashes.
