After missing two deadlines, the structure construction of the Denchi Dzong in Pema Gatshel is nearing completion. With 99 per cent work progress, the project is expected to complete by January 2021.
The project is divided into interior structure works and site development. However, the package does not include the installation of relics, wall paintings of the pinnacle, and site development.
”The remaining works wouldn’t take more than a month to complete after the project deadline,” said Tshering Namgay, the Project Engineer. It includes repairing works and final touches. Meanwhile, the site development, as per the Project Engineer would take another two years to complete.
Started in June 2012, the project missed the first and the second deadline in June 2018 and June 2020, respectively, due to redesigning works and issues with a few structures.
Of the total project cost of Nu 676.3 M, Nu 530 M is being funded by the Indian government.
