Club Delinquents and Zhoems have reserved their place in the semi-finals after their win over Magics and Dragons today during the BoB A-League quarter-finals. According to the Bhutan Basketball Federation, young players who perform well in such high-level tournaments will be selected for try-outs for the National Team.
During the first match today, the titan of the league, Delinquents scored 45 baskets securing a win over Magics. In the second game, it was a close match between Zhoems and Dragons. Zhoems won just by 2 baskets. In tomorrows quarter-finals, Phojas will take on Jachungs and Pazaps will play Wizards.
All eight matches of the quarter-finals will be played only once. This decision was made to end the season soon given the current pandemic situation. The four best teams will face each other during the semi-finals where they will play on the best of three series.
“The situation is not so good as everyone knows. So we are trying to finish the season at the earliest. And through such tournaments, if we see potential and skills in a player, we list down their names and keep their contacts. Then we train them for national events and select them into the national team,” said Dechen Phurba, referee of the A-League.
The A-League is organized to keep the interest and passion in the sport alive through the best players and clubs.
