The D Bindu farm raod in Tendu, Samtse that was handed over to the public barely a month ago is out of use. Landslides triggered by monsoon have damaged the newly constructed farm road.

The 6.16 kilometre farm road from Doreni to D Bindu village has been blocked by landslides and big boulders at several places. Some parts of the road have also been washed away by the incessant rainfall over the past few weeks.

The farm road benefits more than 160 households of five villages.

The newly constructed farm road was opened on the 15th of last month.

The Nigalay tshopa said they have been carrying out minor maintenance works. But the incessant rainfall is hampering their effort.  People living below the farm road also face risk from huge boulders lying at the side of the farm road.

The Nigalay Tshopa said the boulders were not disposed properly when the farm road was handed over to them. Instead, all the big boulders were kept at the side of the road. This he said is unsafe and risky for the houses located below the road.

Meanwhile, the dzongkhag agriculture sector was informed of the damages caused to the newly constructed farm road.

The Dzongkhag Agriculture Officer said that they directed the geog agriculture extension officer and the farm road maintenance group from the village to assess the extent of damage.
