Sarpang Dzongkhag is highly vulnerable to cross border COVID-19 transmission because of its proximity to the neighboring Indian state of Assam. According to the latest figures reported by the Government of Assam, the number of Coronavirus confirmed cases in the state has reached 21864 with 51 deaths.
With the increased possibility of community transmission, the Sarpang COVID-19 taskforce has been preparing for pandemic lockdown in an event of a community transmission in the Dzongkhag. As part of the preparedness plan, the taskforce attended a tabletop simulation workshop organized by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Department of Disaster Management.
The workshop not only helps the taskforce in assessing their capacity, capability and preparedness but also ensures the members understand their roles, responsibility, and key steps required for enforcing the lockdown in case of community transmission.
