Thimphu district court this week passed verdict against Karma Phuntsho of Clover Events and Entertainment, for failing to give cash prizes to the winners of an inter-departmental football tournament played in November last year.

The court, ordered the organiser to pay a compensation of Nu. 18,000 in addition to the prize money.

The winner was supposed to get a cash prize of Nu. 50,000 and the runner-up Nu. 30,000. But the organiser Karma Phuntsho had paid only Nu. 10,000 to the teams.

An agreement was signed, stating that the organiser will pay rest of the amount within few days but he failed to do so.

The verdict stated that Karma Phuntsho have to pay prizes within two months’ time to both the teams.
