Counsellors from around the country met in Wangdue phodrang, to hone their professional skills, so to be able to help some high school students, in the grip of drug addiction. The 10-day workshop called First Colombo Plan Asian Centre for Certification and Education for Addiction, ended yesterday.
The counsellors from higher secondary schools of 20 dzongkhgs were taught two modules. They were science and pharmacologist of addiction, classification of drugs and rehabilitation methods.
They will be awarded certificates of International Certified Addiction Counsellors, after completing nine modules within two years.
The workshop was organised by the Bhutan Narcotics Control Agency in collaboration with Department of Youth and Sports and Ministry of Education. It was funded by UNICEF.
