The second dose for children aged between five and 11 years will be rolled out from Monday. Around 83,000 children in this age group are expected to get vaccinated during the campaign. The vaccine drive will be carried out until Sunday.
The health ministry says the vaccines will be given in campaign modes as per the micro-plans developed by the respective health centres, districts and Thromdes. They said the locations will be announced soon through social media.
The first vaccination campaign for children in this age group was carried out from 7th to 12th March. More than 97 % of eligible children in this age group received their first dose. The children are being given the Pfizer Pediatric Vaccine.
The health ministry says parents and guardians must come forward and encourage their children to take the vaccine as they are proven to provide good protection against the virus.
Meanwhile, no vaccines have yet been approved for children below 5 years.
