A fire destroyed the top floor of the two-storeyed boys’ hostel of Jurmey Primary School in Monggar today. While there are no reports of any casualties, about 25 students lost all their belongings to the fire. They were attending their evening prayers during the incident.
The fire broke out at about 3:30 in the afternoon. Sources said a short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire. The boys’ dormitory was constructed some eight years ago.
As an interim measure, the school management is planning to relocate the boys to the dining hall.
