A book titled, “Bhutanese Buddhism and Its Culture”, compiled and edited by an associate professor at Kyoto University in Japan, Dr. Seiji Kumagai was launched in Thimphu, today.
The book is a compilation of leading Bhutanese researchers’ works on the country’s diverse Buddhist traditions and its statecraft, monasticism and people’s way of life, among others.
The publication is part Bhutanese Buddhism Research Project’s initiative based in Kyoto University in Japan.
“The title Bhutanese Buddhism was used because I wanted to respect my first impression that Bhutanese Buddhism is different from Tibetan Buddhism,” Dr. Seiji Kumagai.
The Centre for Bhutan studies and GNH Research had organised the book launch event at CBS.
The Home Minister, Damchoe Dorji graced the launch.
