UPDATE: The body recovered from Kurichhu reservoir on August 4 is now identified as the 49-year-old mother who was washed away by the flash flood in Lingabee, Gangzur in Lhuentse on July 25.
Earlier the body was identified as her 23-year-old pregnant daughter.
While identifying, they presumed it to be the pregnant daughter since the body was bloated and the face beyond recognition. They only realised the mix-up when the relatives requested health officials to do caesarean on the body before cremation (a belief that unborn and infants can’t be cremated).
