The Permanent Representative of Bhutan to the United Nations and Other International Organisations in Geneva, Daw Penjo, presented his credentials to the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme and Under Secretary General of the United Nations, yesterday.
He is the first Permanent Representative of Bhutan to present credentials to UNEP.
During the ceremony, the Director General of the United Nations Environment Programme said Bhutan and UNEP enjoy a long-standing and excellent relationship. He expressed appreciation to Bhutan for its exemplary efforts in the conservation of environment.
Daw Penjo thanked UNEP for the continued supports provided to Bhutan and expressed the desire of the Royal Government of Bhutan to further enhance the cooperation existing between Bhutan and UNEP.
Bhutan has been a recipient of UNEP’s support since April 1999.
