A man from Thimphu is currently in Tihar Jail in New Delhi, India. He was arrested for possessing 13 kilograms of foreign origin gold on October 27 from the New Delhi Railway Station.
Along with him, two other Indian nationals were also arrested. A total of 34 kilograms of gold worth more than Nu 100 M were seized from them.
Meanwhile, the Royal Bhutanese Embassy in New Delhi has requested the Ministry of External Affairs of India for consular access to meet the Bhutanese man for verification.
