The prime ministers of Bhutan and Thailand held discussions on areas of mutual cooperation between the two countries at a meeting yesterday. The two leaders met at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang in the evening.

They spoke on the excellent cooperation in areas of health, education, tourism and human resource development, and means to further strengthen the relationship between our two countries.

Lyonchhen thanked the Thai prime minister for visiting Bhutan and expressed the warm wishes of the people of Bhutan.

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha said he appreciated the invitation extended to him. He said Bhutan and Thailand have been bound by friendship and mutual areas of culture and religion.

Lyonchhen congratulated the visiting prime minister and his country for the recent successful mission undertaken to save the lives of 12 boys and their football coach trapped in flooded cave network in Thailand’s Chiang Rai province.

“This rescue effort will go down in history. What you personally oversaw was an inspiration not just for the Thai people, but the whole world,” Dasho Tshering Tobgay said.
