Bhutan wins five medals

Bhutan wins five medalsBhutan won two gold, one silver and two bronze medals on the first day of the 50th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports championship underway in the capital. The mega international event began, yesterday.

Tseten Drukpa, 33, won gold medal in the Men’s bodybuilding under 55-kilogram category. He was the first runners up in Mr. Bhutan 2015 competition.


“I worked hard for more three to four months. I am happy to win the gold medal and I hope Bhutanese people are happy as well,” said Tseten Drukpa.

Thinley Dorji, 25, bagged the second gold for Bhutan in men’s fitness over 165-centimetre category. Thinley Dorji has a bronze medal from Mr. Bhutan 2015.

“It is a result of my hard work,” said Thinley Dorji.

Kinley Penjore, 47, bagged the only silver for Bhutan on the first day in men’s fitness in 165-centimetre category.

Bimal Gurung, 27, and Sangay Tshetrim, 34, won a bronze each to take the country’s medal tally to five.

Twenty six Bhutanese are competing in the championship.
