Bhutan will graduate from Least Developed Country to Medium Income Country by 2023. But the country will continue to get financial assistance and other support at least for about six to seven years. However, the Foreign Minister said assistance from the United Nations might decrease after graduation.

“There are only a few countries that assist us. The first one is India. We will continue to get assistance from India regardless of the country’s graduation. And when it comes to Japan and the EU, the country will get assistance till 2027 since we have an agreement. They also said they will provide support through bilateral relationships,” said Foreign Minister, Dr Tandi Dorji.
