Coinciding with the Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the King, the “Bhutan-Thailand Friendship Offer”, was launched in the capital, today. The Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay, launched the offer, which allows Thai nationals to visit Bhutan by paying only US$ 65, per person per night.

The offer says the Thai visitors will not have to pay the mandatory daily package rate of US$ 200 to 250 per person per night for June, July and August, this year.

Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay said tourism is one of the economic developments of the country and that within the identified months Bhutan is expecting four to five thousand Thai tourists.

The Tourism Council of Bhutan has worked out the rate after including 50 percent discount on airfare for both Drukair and Bhutan Airlines. It also include 50 percent discount offer for hotels, special airport reception arrangement on arrival, among others.

The Bhutan-Thailand Friendship Offer is a special gesture from Bhutan to Thailand to commemorate 25 years of diplomatic relations and the long-standing friendship between the two countries.

Meanwhile, the “Bhutan-Thailand Friendship Offer” was also launched by His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck at the J.W Marriott Hotel in Bangkok.
