The Bhutan Olympic Committee has plans to construct an international cricket stadium at Ramtokto in Thimphu worth more than Nu 660 M. This was shared during its seventh General Assembly today. His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck who is the committee’s president chaired the meeting.

The stadium will be constructed with their 13th Five Year Plan budget of Nu 1bn. The stadium will be built on 17 acres of land and will feature a cricket stadium with a seating gallery, hostel facilities, gym, and offices among others.

Additionally, there will also be standard shooting ranges for the shooting federation. Besides the stadium, the committee also plans to construct a National Sports Science Centre at Changlimithang, a multi-sports hall at Depsi and upgrade the archery range at Langjophakha with the budget.

They will also be providing sports scholarships to students and grooming young children with potential. At the meeting, members also discussed hiring experienced foreign coaches to elevate the medal-winning chances in international competitions and starting a sports television channel.

The Bhutan Olympic Committee has 15 federations and six associations.
