The Bhutanese men’s cricket team lost their opening match of the Asian Cricket Council Challenger Cup against Bahrain by seven wickets today. The tournament is being played in Bangkok, Thailand.
Put in to bat first after losing the toss, Bhutan managed to score 104 runs. Only three Bhutanese batsmen managed to score in double digits, with Thinley Jamtsho’s 29 runs being the top score.
In reply, Bahrain chased down the total with seven wickets to spare. Bhutan is pegged with the Maldives, Iran, and Bahrain in group A.
The top two teams will progress to the semi-finals. The tournament is a pathway to the men’s Asia Cup. In the next match, Bhutan will take on Iran on Sunday.
