For the first time, Bhutan hosted the 9th Meeting of the South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA) Committee of Experts, today.
During the two-day meeting, issues like simplification of rules of origin and quarantine processes, reduction of sensitive lists for tariff, easing of trade of services and speeding the pace of regional economic integration are expected to top the agenda.
The report compiled from the meeting will be submitted for discussion and consideration during the Eight Meeting of the SAFTA Ministerial Council, scheduled on July 24.
SAFTA, which constitutes one of the most significant achievements of SAARC , was launched in January 2006.
