An insight into tourism industry

InsightintoTourismIndustry. Tourism industry has, over the years, contributed extensively towards job creation in the country.

Presently, the sector employs over 25,000 people including villagers. There are also more than a staggering two thousand registered tour operators, although, not all are active.


Till June this year, more than 10,200 tourists visited Bhutan. With 116,209 visitors, the tourism Industry recorded the highest number of tourist arrival in 2013, which was an increase often percent from the previous year.

Nonetheless, one of the biggest downside of the industry is undercutting, whereby tour operators sell the minimum package lower that it’s actual rate.

The minimum package rate during the peak season is US$ 250 daily per person, and US$ 200 during the lean season.
