Bhutan has established diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates. The Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations was signed last Thursday between Lhatu Wangchuk, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bhutan to the United Nations in New York, and Ahmed Al-Jarman, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations in New York.
At the signing, the two Ambassadors expressed their interest to further strengthen the present level of cooperation between the two countries at the United Nations and at other multilateral forums.
The United Arab Emirates is the 42nd country with which Bhutan has established diplomatic relations. It is also the third country in the Middle East with which Bhutan has established diplomatic ties.
