The 12th Bhutan Coronation Marathon held this morning in Paro witnessed three hundred and sixteen runners from Bhutan and India.
27-year-old Sangay, from Royal Bhutan Army, completed the race in 2 hours 40 minutes, securing the first position in 42 km category followed by Gawa Zangpo from Royal Body Guard completing it 2 minutes later. The third place was secured by Nima Yoezer who completed the race in 2 hours 50 minutes.
Goma Pradhan from Dagana a serial marathoner has a record of 1 hour 24 minutes in a 21 km Coronation marathon.This year she complected the race in 1 hour and 26 minutes 2 minutes later, securing the first position in 21 km category. she also won the Thunder Dragon marathon recently completing the 21 km race in 1 hour 47 minutes.
Dorji wangmo, a student from Jampel Higher secondsry school in Haa finished the race 23 minutes later claiming the second position. And 28 year old, Karma completed the race in 1 hour 50 minutes, coming third in the 21Km category.
Kinley Tshering, 18 years old student from Kelki Higher Secondary ran in 21 km category and won the race. He completed the race in 1 hour and 15 minutes. Dechen Ugyen reached the finish line 60 seconds faster than Jampel Choda, and booked the second position.
The winners were awarded cash prizes. The Bhutan Coronation Marathon is organised by Bhutan Amateur Athletic Federation in collaboration with Paro Dzongkhag Administration.
