Towards achieving ‘ZERO Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV’ and ‘elimination of Congenital Syphilis’, the Ministry of Health has initiated expanding rapid diagnostic facilities for HIV and STIs to all 184 BHUs in the 205 gewogs of the country.
The service was launched at Kamichu BHU-II under Wangdue Phodrang Dzongkhag on October 31 by the Health Minister, Tandin Wangchuk.
Lyonpo, in his launching remark, urged people, especially, pregnant mothers to avail of the services during pregnancy to prevent vertical transmission of HIV and STIs. With this expanded service, Bhutan has achieved universal access to comprehensive HIV/STIs prevention and diagnostic services.
