Bhutan could see competent women football players for the National Women’s football Team in 10 years from now.
Bhutan Football Federation (BFF) is coaching over 200 girls at Gyalpoizhing Central School in Monggar.
BFF is set to train potential players will be trained at the Women’s Football Academy in Gelegphu.
Women’s football is still behind in terms of funding, media interest and crowd turnout as opposed to men’s team.
The federation’s campaign is expected level the ground by grooming professional women footballers in the country.
“We did not have senior national team but now we have,” said Ugyen Dorji from BFF.
He said they are training under 14 and under 16 women teams at the academy.
The academy has 42 students as of now.
