While most of the Gewogs in Trongsa have been connected to power supply, Bemji village in Nubi Gewog still remains in darkness. However, the works are underway to connect the village very soon.
Heaps of electrical equipment are seen laid on the ground, while the officials from the Bhutan Power Corporation are distributing them to the individuals. The villagers are excited. They said their lives would now change for the better.
“So far, we have been working in the dark. We have been using kerosene and battery for light at times. But now, things will change and we are excited,” said Kesang Dema, a farmer.
Almost 80 percent of the electrification works are complete. The BPC officials said the village would receive electricity in few months from now.
Meanwhile, some of the villagers have already purchased electrical appliances.
Besides the villagers, students of Bemji primary school will also be benefited.
