A Project Officer of Bhutan Development Bank Limited (BDBL) is under Thimphu Police Custody for alleged involvement in a forgery case.
The 31-year-old man has also been charged with tampering of public record, according to the police.
Police apprehended the suspect on Thursday after the bank lodged a complaint against him.
The man is accused of forging a legal officer’s signature while sanctioning loans to the clients.
According to the police, the accused added additional amount of Nu 15.5 M to the approved amount of over nine clients.
The bank has called for internal auditing since last Monday.
