During the Business to Business or B2B meeting between the tour operators of Bhutan and Assam, the stakeholders looked at ways to boost tourism business in these two places.
The meeting which was held in Thimphu today saw that the suggestion from Assam based tour operators was made on collaborating to prepare travel itineraries for tourists.
“Since Assam and Bhutan are very much connected, the itinerary will benefit to attract tourists to both the places,” stated the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Arijit Purkayastha of Koyeli Tours and Travels from Assam, India.
Organising roadshows- a series of marketing events was also recommended. “We have decided that there will be familiarisation tour for Bhutanese travel agency operators in Assam. We also decided to have at least one roadshows together,” the CEO continued.
That aside, the B2B meeting saw discussion on attracting high-end tourists in Bhutan as well as Assam. Tourism officials, Bhutanese tour operators, Assamese tour operators, and Indian embassy officials attended the discussion. It is part of Assam festival event held to mark 50 years of bilateral ties between Bhutan and India.
