The team from the National Centre for Hydrology and Meteorology (NCHM) has restored the Automated Water Level Station at Thorthormi lake. The system was reported to have been damaged after the outburst of the subsidiary lakes at the source of Phochhu river in Punakha recently.

The Automated Water level Station has started transmitting water level data automatically to Wangdue Glacier Lake Outburst Flood Control and the NCHM in Thimphu starting yesterday.

The team will also carry out the repair and maintenance of the Automated Water Level Station of Thanza lake by today. Meanwhile, as per the press release from the department of disaster management, there is no significant change in the water level. But people are advised to refrain from going to the river banks of Pochhu and downstream.

The team at the lake is continuously studying the situation and carrying out a rapid assessment.
