A 56-year-old man died on the spot when the maruti van he was travelling in went off the road at Chandigang in Zhemgang.

The accident occurred at around 8:30 am yesterday. Chandigang is 56 kilometres away from Zhemgang.

Five people and a child escaped with injuries. One of the injured has been referred to Yebilabtsa hospital and the rest have been referred to the national referral hospital in Thimphu.

The vehicle was on its way to Tingtibi from Gongphu. The officer in charge in Zhemgang said that the cause of the accident was careless and unlicensed driving.
