Ambassador to Bhutan, Patrick Suckling The Australian government will be cutting down the number of scholarships beginning the 2016 intake. The Australian Ambassador to Bhutan, Patrick Suckling said the cut is not prescribed only to Bhutan, but is being done globally as Australia is going through a budget deficit.

“We are now supporting more PhD students hoping that they can later teach Australian level courses to the Bhutanese- meaning Bhutanese can get Australian qualification within Bhutan.”

The number of scholarships given to each country by Australia is likely to pick up once Australia is able to deal with its fiscal problems.
