The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) submitted its rebuttal statement against Tshogpon Jigme Tshultim to the Monggar District Court on Gyalpoizhing land case today.
ACC argued that the Speaker, as the Chairman of the plot allotment committee then, is responsible for illegal allotment of plots in Gyalpoizhing. Twenty three counts of charges submitted against the Tshogpon were read out by the Drangpon.
On December 20, Tshogpon Jigme Tshultim, in his rebuttal statement to the court had pleaded not guilty of official misconduct and other charges pressed against him by the Anti-Corruption Commission.
The Anti-Corruption Commission in its submission also defended its authority to prosecute the case, which was questioned by Tshogpon during his earlier rebuttal statement.
The Tshogpon, as the chairman of the plot allotment committee, was accused of forgery, deceptive practice, sale of government land and illegal allocation of plots in Gyalpoizhing.
Tshogpon Jigme Tshultim will submit his rebuttal statement on January19.
Two separate hearings were also held for two committee members today. The court read out the ACC’s charges against Tandin Dorji, one of the plot allotment committee members. He is charged for official misconduct. In another hearing, one of the plot allotment committee members, Dorji Wangchuk, submitted his rebuttal statement against the charges pressed on him by the Anti Corruption Commission.
