The ground-breaking ceremony for Bhutan’s first Astroturf of the Changlimethang stadium was conducted in Thimphu, today.
The President of FIFA, Joseph Blatter, and the President of Bhutan Football Federation, Ugyen Tsechup Dorji, participated in the ceremony in the presence of the President of BOC, His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, the acting President of Asian Football Confederation and other executive committee members.
The FIFA President, who was in the Kingdom, assured continued support to the Bhutan Football Federation at a press conference yesterday.
He said the existing pitches or playing ground needs further improvement. The acting president of the Asian Football Confederation, who was also present at the press conference, said the Asian countries still need support and guidance from FIFA. He added that AFC will continue to follow the FIFA strategy and give more technical and financial support to all the member associations. The FIFA President left the Kingdom today.
