About 50 truck drivers in Gelephu wrote a petition to the police saying they be allowed to move through Indian state Assam without an escort.
They said vehicles in other bordering towns were allowed to move even without an escort.
After the three-day-strike in Assam came to an end yesterday, vehicles from Phuentsholing and Samdrup Jongkhar were allowed to move.
The drivers said they have been stuck in Gelephu for days now and that their perishable goods are rotting.

We should be allowed to move. I live in Phuentsholing and I am running out of money.”

One of the drivers, who had come from Phuentsholing to buy chicks for a poultry farm, said his chicks are dying.
There is no escort on Thursdays and Sundays.
Vehicles with perishable goods were finally allowed to move without escort at one in the afternoon. However, about 40-50 vehicles are still stuck in Gelephu.
