Once complete, the De-suung National Service Water Project will benefit around two hundred households of Chhubesa Kidu Settlement in Goenshari Gewog, Punakha. The beneficiaries are people from Lunana who migrate to Punakha to get away from the harsh cold winters.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the water project was held yesterday. Thirty-five DeSuups along with RBA personnel and government employees will work on the project which is expected to complete within four months. The water will be supplied from Tholungchhu stream.

His Majesty The King granted 13 decimals of land Kidu to each household of Lunana to re-settle at Chhubesa Kidu Settlement in 2019. The people couldn’t re-settle due to a lack of budget. The completion of the water project will be followed by a power supply connection and road construction. The beneficiaries will then proceed to construct houses.

Chhubesa Kidu Settlement is located in an area of around 2,500 acres and is about two kilometres away from Goentshephu Temple in Punakha.
