Ambassadors present credentials

The Ambassadors of Argentina, Myanmar, Spain and Turkey presented their credentials to His Majesty The King at the Kuenray of the Tashichhodzong yesterday. 

The Ambassadors were escorted to the dzong in traditional chipdrel procession.

Argentina’s Ambassador, Maria Cristina Ueltschi took over the post in July last year. She holds a university degree in Law from Mendoza University in Argentina. Prior to her current appointment, she served as the Minister Plenipotentiary of the First Class in the foreign ministry.

Ambassador Maung Wai of Myanmar joined the foreign affairs ministry in 1980. With a bachelors’ degree in Agriculture, he is also a recipient of civil medals and orders of Myanmar. Before taking up the present responsibility, he served as the Permanent Representative of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the United Nations Office and other International Organization in Switzerland.

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain Jose Ramon Baranano Fernandez assumed the post this year. He joined the diplomatic service in 1978 and served as Spain’s ambassador to many countries including Australia, Malaysia and New Zealand.

Sakir Ozkan Torunlar, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey joined the Foreign Affairs ministry in 1983. After serving as the Director General for South of Asia of the Turkish government for four years, took over as the current post earlier this year. He was accredited as the Turkish Ambassador to Bhutan from 2008 to 2010 as well.
