The newly constructed Bhutan Centennial Distillery at Bhur, Sarpang was inaugurated on Friday. Constructed at a cost of Nu.423 million, it will produce grain based extra neutral alcohol spirit.

The Project Director said the distillery will boost the rural income as the farmers can sell their grains to the distillery. Grains are the main raw materials used for manufacturing the spirit.

The factory will require about 76 metric tonnes of grains every day. Meanwhile, with the opening of the distillery, more than 100 Bhutanese youth have also been employed.

It was inaugurated by the Minister of Home and Cultural Affairs, Minjur Dorji.
