ACC directs re-investigation into school fund misuse allegationsThe Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has directed the Bumthang Dzongkhag to re-investigate the case involving the allegations of misuse of school funds.

A teacher of Ura Middle Secondary School has alleged the principal of misusing the school’s funds. He had reported the case to the Anti-Corruption Commission in July, this year.

Bumthang’s ADEO, Lham Dorji said ACC found their report to be incomplete. He said before they could complete the investigation, local media reported. “We could not do much on the case.”

And now the teacher, who had put up the complaint to the ACC, says he is being targeted after the dzongkhag’s investigation revealed his identity.

“We did not reveal his identity as the report from the ACC was anonymous,” said the ADEO. In fact, he said, they found out the teacher had revealed to a few colleagues that it was him who had written to ACC.

The teacher also said the Principal harassed and ill-treated him. He said he was asked to vacate the school quarter and was graded low despite fulfilling all his responsibilities.

The Principal denied the allegations. He said the teacher was rated purely based on his performance, which was carried out by the human resource committee.

He also said the teacher was asked to vacate the school quarter following a notification from dzongkhag. The notification, the principal said, stated the quarter has to be dismantled for the construction of the central school.

The teacher says the investigation has to be carried out before the school closes for winter vacation.
